This television commercial is part of the Quit Smoking campaign in Australia. While graphic, does it really work? The campaign is funded by the Government, through the taxes imposed on cigarette sales. So, while the Government is happy to condone the sales of cigarettes, it then tells us not to purchase them. In another context, would we trust a drug dealer who told us that drugs were dangerous? We need to ask, on what side of the fence does the Government really reside? They seem happy for 20 000 Australians to die every year through smoking related illnesses, as long as they are making money from taxes and investing a small proportion of that on anti-smoking propaganda.
