i tried to install ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu and they all failed
i installed fedora successfully - no problems at all

Can anybody help me out with a problem with Ubuntu 9.04 its says something about my kernel and says that I need to use an appropriate kernel get the program to work yeh general if anyone can help me big or small that would be a big help

That was a REALLY dumb comment.
I have quad core 4gb ram and it works like a charm for me

no you dont i tried installing it on my new pc 4gb ram and it didnt work
and then my 512mb of ram with a 933 mhz processor and it worked like a charm
it works good on slow pcs

that's a problem with your monitor, my lcd had the same issue, when i connected a simple crt i was able to view the desktop.
After installing the nvidia drivers i could then play with the refreshrate settings to allow my lcd screen to work.
the same also happened with suse9.3

I have tried 6.06 and 7.04 and the generic driver works in 2d for my 6600gt but can't get the 3d to work. I don't think ubuntu is ready for the public yet. You really have to know linux and how to use a CLI to use ubuntu for anything other than just checking e-mail and standard web pages. Can't get sound to work on 7.04 either.
