The British crowd's used to taking the piss out of one another. Ricky & Steve were born of that. America is pretty hypersensitive these days, political correctness & all. Ricky hit the nail on the head when he said that most of Hollywood was perfectly OK with what he said, thot it was very funny, but were probably concerned about being SEEN laughing at their colleagues expense or worried they'd be next. The audience at home, on the other hand (myself included), was cry-laughing!!

Compare this crowd's reaction to that of this year's Golden Globes where most of the room didn't get it or were too precious to take anyone having a dig at Hollywood and it's night and day. His Golden Globes stuff wasn't any more controversial than the stuff he does here about Hawking.

@mrsdylan77 But Gervais was brilliant as David Brent. I love both but I don't like it when people try and dismiss Gervais and talk up Merchant. They are both geniuses.

@arper1878 what i mean is that without Steve, ricky would still be doing radio. Steve is an amazing writer but Ricky gets the spotlight.
