  • i just tore my acl a couple days ago playing lacrosse. i know that someday i'll be able to return to lacrosse again (because the same thing happened to a teammate a couple years ago) but i'm worried i won't be as fast as before (i was always the fastest one on the team).

  • Hey, I wouldn't worry about it too much; you have got other things to focus on. I'm about 2 years now and it's all good, couldn't tell the difference. Your teammate must be doing alright since they are playing again; I suppose their game hasnt changed much? The rehab aint easy but if you stick with it then you will be better off. Just remember to follow the advice of the surgeon and the physio and good luck... Oh yeah, get a surgeon that you are confident and comfortable with.

  • did your doctor told you could try those side moves???

  • Yep.... well the doctor is mainly there for the surgery and to check your progress at different intervals. The physio is the one that will push you and advise what you can and can't do.

  • ahh,

i just did my acl and miniscus a week ago.

They havent done the surgery or anything, but im really worried and i do loads of sports and i was wondering if there was any way i could continue to play with a tore acl and a partially torn meniscus?

i really dont want the surgery.

  • I wouldn't do it and you would probably end up doing more damage. Just find a surgeon your confident with and a physio who knows what there on about.

  • @melissahsargeant Yeah I ripped mine doing karate...and while I can train somewhat with it like that the reality is the knee can and likely will collapse again and there's a good chance you'll tear something else up. I'm not eager to have surgery either but in the long run i think you'd regret it if you didn't get it.

  • I am so impressed :) congratulations!

  • I completely tore my acl and I have to get this done...I don't know whether to get a donor or use my own...and I also want to know if anyone has had this surgery adn been successful enough to not have had torn it again...I just want to know it's possible

  • @asnarac yeah, i stayed on mine for a month before the surgery cuz i didnt believe i tore it, then i played a basketball game and the second i cut right, i felt the same pain as when i tore it and couldnt walk, because of the time it took me to man up and have it done, i had tibial and femoral bone bruising, which sucks twice as bad lo, i'll be out a month next wednesday lol

  • @melissahsargeant hey, I tore my acl playing rugby at semi pro level, i also do motorcoss and such foreth. i wasnt going to have the acl repair but m glad i did. before i had it running without an acl was ok sprinting no problem! slowing down and changing direction was the hard part just felt like it was going to go at anytime. i would recommend having the surgery just that its a long recovery period and can be quite frustrating keeping the weight of.
