This video explains the process of making a simple armature for sculpting a puppet design or maquette. You will use this design to sculpt a puppet in oil based clay and then mold the sculpture to make a foam latex puppet. This is Video #1 in the series.

Quick Facts:
The wire is Arcor 1/8th aluminum wire.
Fast Steel is the epoxy putti that was used. But we suggest using ProPoxy because it is a better quality.

  • Hey Bro! What kind of piping is that you are using? And is the arcore wire 1/8 or 1 1/8? Thanks a ton!

  • @Larrums K&S Brass tubing, the wire is 1/8th Arcor Aluminum Wire.

  • @stopmotionmagazine Is the tubing also 1/8", I'm sorry to bother you. I just haven't been making armatures in this way before. I would love to pick your brain a little more if you were so inclined. I own a small animation studio in Denver. I'm sure we have a lot we could talk about. Peace!

  • @Larrums Sure thing, the tubing is 1/8th. If you are unsure when buying the tubing at the hobby or hardware store you can take buy the wire first and then check that it fits. Not all wires are created equal. Thats why I suggest Arcor since its one of the best on the market and fits the tubing exactly.

  • @Larrums I forgot to add that this is just the sculpting armature. You should checkout the puppet building armature in the 4th video.

  • where do u get the epoxy putty

  • @mattt19890 Small Hardware stores. Look for Plumbers Epoxy. Use the steel one.
