News Report of IRA Landmine in Loughmacrory, Co. Tyrone - 2nd August 1981.
Two RUC men were killed in an IRA land mine attack on the Loughmacrory Road. The device contained around 600 lb. and left a crater ten feet deep. The two RUC men killed were in the second vehicle in a two car mobile patrol and the force of the blast hurled the car into a field. RUC personnel in the first car returned fire but no hits were claimed and all IRA Volunteers returned safely to base.
