@PBANDSNOW LP's don't stay in tune better unless you upgrade the shitty "Gibson Deluxe" stock tuners. And any strat that you upgrade with locking tuners will stay in tune as good or better!!
-
@EuthanizeReligion I wouldn't say that MOST are ripping people off. GIBSON definitely does? I have their LP Studio Faded, I think it is the only guitar they make that is worth the money. You can get a Agile al-3000, LP copy, for one fifth the price of a LP Standard and with upgraded pickups they play and sound the same. You have to remember though that 300 dollars in the 60's is like 3000 in today's money!

I think its just opinion. If you like thin necks with more of a precise sound, go for a strat or tele. If you like thicker necks with a thicker, harder sound, go for a good les paul from the custom shop. Les Paul stay in tune better, but they arent as precise for solo’s and such.
-
@thebigleone have you ever played one? if so you are deluding yourself.
-
@EuthanizeReligion there's this thing called inflation... so $300 in the 60's is about $2000 today... The fact that something was good back then and rare now... well thats just limited supply and excess demand.
-
Well done whoever recorded the sound. Idiot.
-
@EuthanizeReligion I wish I'd put $300 behind Bill Gates back in the '60s. Hey-ho
-
The sound quality is awful! It reflects very poorly on Gibson to have lousy sound.
-
I wouldn't pay anything extra for an old Paul or Strat. The instuments they are making today are the best ever.
I'd Laugh my Ass Off If Jeff kept a stratocaster under his arm during the Gibson Interview ... lol
