This video was shot from a Piper Cub with a GoPro camera. It is HD so you may need to let it buffer a while to play through. Also, if you have a good sound system you will get the most out of it.

  • Feel free to share with anyone you like.

  • If you would like to take a look from Google Earth. Here are the coordinates 29°34'19.60"N

103 46 49.6 W The canyon itself can only be seen on the ground with permission from the owners...and that is very hard to get.

  • Great video. I want to fly with you :))

  • reminds me of the opening of Paris Texas.

Filmed in Monument Valley I believe but filmed in and around West Texas, Terlingua, Marathon etc.

  • @alexwhitmore

Do you mind if I put a link of this video on my web site?

  • Very nice job with the aero photography and excellent music ac compliment. Being a long time pilot I must say I can not remember ever flying over that harsh a landscape. Oh, I do own land on terlingua ranch but have not made it down yet and look forward to flying the area once we move down. The J3 is an outstanding platform for this kind of filming. Again, outstanding job.

  • Absolutely fabulous!! Thank you for this fantastic video.

  • Wow Alex, great video! I've been over a lot of that country horseback and 4 wheel drive and it is breathtaking on the ground too. Thanks for the over flight. Recognised toward the end you were flying to the Northeast and was able to get some bearings there. Made out Agua fria, Nine point mesa and Santiago peak. Thanks again.

  • Yes, it's 'owned'... but look where it is, giant national (and state) parks just nearby. Really cool hoodoos, another one of those 'gotta know somebody' places. Better to not have folks traipsing around that stuff... some of it looked very fragile.

    Thanks for posting, loved it!
