American Idol is not a singing competition. It's a talent competition, so one does need to be better overall. There was no one that lit up the stage nor excited me more than David Cook. He had that "something" and he has more of it than alot of famous folks do. He did most definitely deserve to win. I will say, however, that Chikezie is very underrated. He has a great voice and I think would have been a contender in prior years. But this is the year of The Cook and you can't take that away.

@WeWos4evah they have a theme every week for idol i guess,whether it be opera,or country music,you get the idea. besides, i think he did a good job on this version of the song. he took the song and made it his own.nothing wrong with that. david cook won fair and square. he totally deserved his win. they both came this far didnt they?they are both talented. be happy for archie, stop dwelling on it,move on already!

@AxelSoul its not about what the person looks like,its about ppl enjoying the music and THAT is wut matters the most! he had to sing that on idol: i guess they have a theme like country music,opera,etc,well you get the idea. i think hes very talented. if you dislike this so much,then maybe this just isnt for you.

Cook is my favorite Idol contestant of all times. However, this song was probably my least favorite of all of his performances (even though I still think it was a decent performance). The original cover, done by Doxology, was not great. I'm glad that Cook generally used his own arrangements throghout the show, because they were far superior.

judging by your support of archuleta, your musical tastes are crude at best. I like both versions of the song but it's rediculous to assume that a song is amazing just because it is famous, for your future reference.
