I don't doubt that bigots are more likely to call themselves conservative, just as racists or sexists would probably call themselves Christians. However, bigots being conservative are not the same as conservatives being bigots.

Unfortunately fiscal conservatives have to be lumped in with the crazies who want social oppression with a smile.

I don't know about that. Put 100 bigots in a room and ask them one question. "Are you liberal or conservative?" Honestly. How do you suppose that would come out? As a life long conservative who has lost the faith in recent years I have no doubts about what the response would be. It wouldn't even be close.

You still haven't addressed the fact that your pride in a nation of freedom and liberty hinges on whether or not you agree with a current elected official. But then, expecting you to be able to do so is probably setting the bar too high for someone like you.

generalizations have a tendency to be false. The image you get of either party is rarely indicative of what self-thinking people of either persuasion are actually like.

Now, the mouth-breathers strictly following party lines, that's another story. But if one cannot form their own beliefs, then arguing against them is pretty futile, wouldn't you say?

Conservatives are called intolerant because they are.  Conservatives have a long history of opposing civil rights and compassion for marginalized groups. You've earned that label all on your own.

The skill and bravery of the Seals is unquestionable. But the pres is the one who is judged by the success or failure of the mission and must make the decision. History will never know the names of the folks you rightfully mention. Obama made the right call.
