I demonstrate how to draw using Inkscape given a source. Obviously it's fast-forwarded. There is a guide at TREZ that I've been meaning to make more public which covers this technique.

Files will be distributed at my blog.

  • too fast to see when you use which tools - especieally when you're colouring

  • @Iriien I have an Illustrator tutorial which goes over a similar technique and is played slower.

  • thats not drawing, thats TRACING

  • @ssumm3rx megarockblog.blogspot com/2011/09/drawing-in-illustrator-tutorial.html

Because it will always be tracing.

  • how do you make the background transparent? Like whatever site i would put it on, the background color would be the sites background color.

  • @jtpruzz Uh, that is what transparent is. Otherwise, just draw a colored square to export the artwork with solid backgrounds.

  • This actually isn't all that complex- It's mostly use of the polygon(star) tool, elipse (circle) tool, and pencil tool for outlining, node manipulation and fill/stroke configuration- all of which are easily learnable on the Inkscape wiki and it's many resources :P I love this technique for uploading B&Ws from a scanner and making a clean, crisp set of paths to edit and color, while also getting to fix small oversights in the hand drawn version :)

  • It's Rush! Yay!

  • Thanks! I learned enough from this to make my first vector.

  • @ominoususer hehe never mind i figured it out, sorry.

  • hey man I'm a noob at this- how do you edit the thickness of the bezier curves?

  • @billnye69

When you have the select tool active and an object selected there are buttons in the toolbar just below the path dropdown that raises and lowers objects...they look like stacks with arrows.Or you can press page up and page down to raise or lower one level or home and end to send to the top or bottom
