The Gaelic song 'Báidín Fheilimí' ('Feilimí's little boat')performed by na Casaidigh, accompanied with images of Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gweedore )

English translation (Aistriúchán Bhéarla):

Feidhlim's little boat went to Gola,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it,
Feidhlim's little boat went to Gola,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it

A tiny little boat, a lively little boat,
A foolish little boat, Feidhlim's little boat,
A straight little boat, a willing little boat,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it.

Feidhlim's little boat went to Tory,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it,
Feidhlim's little boat went to Tory,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it.

A tiny little boat, a lively little boat,
A foolish little boat, Feidhlim's little boat,
A straight little boat, a willing little boat,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it.

Feidhlim's little boat crashed on Tory,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it,
Feidhlim's little boat crashed on Tory,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it,

A tiny little boat, a lively little boat,
A foolish little boat, Feidhlim's little boat,
A straight little boat, a willing little boat,
Feidhlim's little boat and Feidhlim in it.

  • I still remember the day I first heard this exact version of this song while in Irish College, I went straight to HMV as soon as I could to buy it. The next song on the same album is still pretty good.

  • Love it! It's one of my favorites!

  • @Gaelge22Quebec Cén fáth go bhfuil tú ag foghlaim Gaeilge?

Bonne chance, a chara. Moi aussi je ne suis pas irlandais, je suis allemand, mais j'aime a parler en langues irlandaise et bretonnaise.

Slán agus beannacht agus athbhliain faoi mhaise duit.

    Aon Gearmánach amháin

  • Tá mé Quebecer, labhairt liom Fraincis. Bhí mé ag foghlaim Béarla ag an oibleagáid. D'fhoghlaim mé Spáinnis ag mian leis. Anois mé ag foghlaim na nGael. Ní hé seo an oibleagáid é, is paisean.

England tried during more than a hundred year to exterminate French in my country. Then, Canadian elite tried to do the same since 1867. They failed, not totally, but they failed.

Je n'ai aucun sang irlandais. Je suis un pur sang Québécois. Pourtant, Éirinn go Brách!!! Beatha teanga í a labhairt...

  • what instruments are used in this song?? :P

  • @Dagda1981

I am not indigenious American Indian. I am Italian, Irish and Cajun French on one side, and German, Austrian, Dutch and a microscopic amount of scottish/english on the other. I only speak English, when I should be able to at least speak Italian!

  • @TheBirdMamma I'm Irish, and thanks for the message, are you Native American? Or from another European culture whose ancestors were forced to learn english?
