Florida Cities Being Sued Over ILLEGAL RED LIGHT Cameras
Several cities are being sued over taking pictures of red light runners, in order to send traffic tickets to violators.

The lawsuits claim the cameras are illegal because the state hasn't adopted regulations to govern the use of the cameras. the suits aren't stopping more cities from hooking up the red light cameras.

Thousands of red light runners who think they pulled off a perfect caper have been surprised days later with a ticket in the mail. 35 Florida cities and counties have set up red light cameras to catch daring drivers, collecting millions in fines.

Now drivers are fighting back filing several lawsuits. The suits claim the cameras are illegal because the state hasn't adopted rules to govern their use.

"A bill to establish statewide regulations for red light cameras has failed in the legislature several years in a roll."

Tallahassee will roll out red-light cameras in October. Police Officer David McCranie says the suits haven't slowed down the plan.

"You can litigate anything and we are going to let that process work its way out and we are going to be in tune and make sure that we are doing what is appropriate and right by our citizens, but until it works itself through the justice system, it's perfectly legal."

Drivers say the cameras aren't fair and are just a tool to bring in more money.

"They try to nip you for everything."

Mary Rault wasn't sure how she felt about the cameras, but that all changed Saturday when she was T-boned by a red-light runner.

"Before I wasn't so sure about that, you know I probably would have said no, but now that I've been in an accident, it makes me think maybe yes."

If red-light runners win the lawsuits, cities and counties will double their efforts for statewide regulations.

The ticket for running a red light is about 125 dollars but can get more expensive depending on court cost.

  • alright robbing a liquor store and running a red light are two completely different things if you run a red light and dont hurt anyone then you should be given a break but if you harm a human life or property then you should be punished btw red light cameras do not stop accidents if its going to happen its going to happen red light cameras are complete bs just another way to oppress the people they are unconstitutional

  • I walk into a store and rob it but I am caught on camera so I try to change the law

so any information taken by the camera can not be use in court. People who run red lights do not care about laws they are self center people who do not care about anyone but them selfs and will take it to court so they will get their way. I think

the fine for running a light should be $10500. I still see they jerks run red lights

while they are sending someone a msg on their cell phone.

  • @WONDOCTORJ Now, if you've read those documents you should realise that a law CANNOT be illegal, only unconstitutional. Now if you have the time and inclination you can make an effort to change or remove any law; all you have to do is file a case against the state naming a particular law and if you have a valid case and enough facts your case may work it's way up the court system and be declared unconstitutional.....But be careful

  • @WONDOCTORJ You may want read a few documents. The US and Florida state constitutions and more importantly the books on florida statutes, or laws. Although they are considered mostly civil infractions, meaning that they are generally enforced with fines and not jail time, they are still laws. It might be in your best interest know a few facts before shooting your mouth, or keyboard off.

  • @WONDOCTORJ Yo

  • @airdale144 running a red light is not against the law---it is against legislation---and the legislation is ILLIGAL----you are a good little new world order slave

  • If you don't want a ticket, then don't break the law. DUUUUHHHH
