SWEET Kenwood!! I'd love to have HD. But HD radio is SO limited in signal path transmission.

thanks for putting that video up. I just bought the same tuner based on your demo. reception is very good in Tinley Park IL. and the prices have come down now two years later.

Wow ... does the Sangean HDT-1 tuner really 'acquire' the HD signal that fast? I could hardly hear any analog 'changeover' at all.
I'd also be curious how 'impervious' the tuner is to lightning (you know, thunderstorms!)
Unfortunately, they are a way of life and affect the AM Broadcast Band much more so than the FM Broadcast band even though each FM channel is about 10x the BW of an AM channel (has to do with energy content per Hz of the lightning discharge at say 1 MHz vs 100 MHz.)

Keep it up! Your posts are most illuminating!
BTW: I'am a "professional" stock investor these days, haven't been a radio studio since I was a child...That would be 1966.
Kind of funny isn't it..a male nurse debating radio with a stock trader.
here's laughing at ya!

Once again we have mr Bob Young alias betojoven, alias KB1OKL dispensing misinformation and b.s. as fact.
This fellow is an amateur musician and ham operator.

My best DX reciever,ATS-909 has a Hash from
local 710 WOR and 770 WABC both run Hd Radio
in NYC

Very fine. I´m 60 km far from the main FM HD test signals in Sao Paulo and only digital data received at the moment, inside the city I made the full HD audio reception. Thanks for post.

The AM HD has been fine for me I can pull in 1510 WLAC & 1430 WPLN(NPR) in during the day, I can dx decently at night too, and AM HD is suppossed to go 24/7 on Sept. 14th

How far you are located from these HD stations? Are you using any external antenna? Thanks and congratulations for the good video and receptions.

I wish I knew how far the transmitters were. I'm 30 miles west of Chicago. While broadcasts are from Chicago there are transmitters scattered about in the 'burbs. Transmitters are mapped long/lat by the FCC. So it would take quite a bit of time to map them.
Stations recvd in video used the supplied indoor antenna. I live on the 2nd floor of a 3 story condo. No outside antennas allowed. I did install 'rabbit ears' and that helps to grab more stations.
Thanks for your comments.

how much of a change is over the normal radio?

The sound quality is impressive in the Chicago area. Most of the stations are CD quality. You can definitely hear the difference when the tuner goes from normal analog FM to High Definition FM. It's a shame that the audio on this this video doesn't show this very well. The addition of more station available only on the digital side is the other benefit.
