Current Environment
"Tea Party" Conservatives have threatened to
1) shut down the government
2) default on the full faith and credit of the United States
This is clearly absurd, deprived of sound judgment, and mental clarity.
The Need for a Countervailing Party
Party Platform: Five governing Principles
1) Non-ideological
a. Any ideology, belief system, or world-view is welcome
b. Not "bi-partisan" but "non-partisan.
2) Dialectic Decision Method
a. Listen to other perspectives
b. Willingness to concede one's perspective to reach a compromise
c. Group-think discouraged, devil's advocate-thinking encouraged
3) The 5-Why's
a. Any position taken must be defensible to five levels of questioning to be considered
4) Costs and Benefits
a. There is no moral "Right" or "Wrong" position. Only Cost or Benefit in the Short and Long Term
5) Aristotle's Ethics
a. Decisions governed on the principles in Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, particularly seeking the "Golden Mean", or the mean between the extremes of action.
