Tommy Davis, spokesman for the Church of Scientology, contradicts himself in two recent interviews. In the first audio interview he was addressing accusations in the St Petersburg Times that the leader of Scientology, David Miscavige, had beaten members of his staff.

In an attempt to blame Marty Rathburn for assaults that had been attributed to Davis Miscavige, he specifically says:

"and more frequently over a longer period of time than by any of them was Mike Rinder who was slapped, punched, kicked, choked, grabbed by the neck, thrown to the floor, and tackled into furniture."

And

"At which point, he pulled Mike away who was bleeding from his ear and had contusions around his head and took him off to get him medical attention."

Yet in the more recent interview for ABC Nightline he said:

Why did Mike Rinder, who was married for 35 years, has his wife made it very clear that never did he come home with any bruises, any marks, nor did he ever mention being attacked by Mr. Miscavige

What is important here is not who carried out the assaults, but the contradiction between one account that makes it clear that Mike Rinder, on one occasion, had contusions around his head and needed
medical attention and another account that makes it clear that never did he come home with any bruises, any marks

Why make it so clear that Mike Rinder was visibly injured when accusing someone other than David Miscavige, yet later make it clear that this never happened when defending David Miscavige against the same allegation?

A tangled web indeed...
