The best solution to all race riots is to send them back to their HOMELAND and they can sing FREE AT LAST, GOD ALMIGHTY,WE ARE FREE AT LAST! That way all races are with their own and no more racism! Race mixing don't work it causes RIOTS!

I was 6 years old during this, and I still remember it all too well.
Despite the wide spread destruction along Springfield, and South Orange Avenues, damage downtown was minimal. The wounds to downtown were slow to develop, but by the early 70's, businesses and stores started to leave in droves. This left even fewer jobs for Newark residents. Newark never fully recovered from the riots, and I don't think it will ever.

My question is will history repeat itself ? The overwhelming frustration with the political environment the lack of jobs, lack of educational programs and the people who want to rule this country in the next 4 years and cut all programs and provide no health care, lower wages This can lead to a repeat of history this time it will be between the have and have not

Newark riot had nothing to do with a white man shooting a prominent black leader the riot had to do with a group of people standing together due to being fed up with police brutality...At that time jews owned everything and they were charging outrageous prices and interest on credit given to blacks in Newark thats the cause of the businesses being burned and looted. My family owned arcades, stores and laudromats and none of those were burned nor looted. you can only be unjust for so long!!

The background music makes it hard to hear the commentary! Other than that, the footage is one of the best I've seen. It's difficult to look at and stomach, but I need to know more about my city, my birthplace! Thank you for putting this piece together!
