Thanjavur festival - Muthupallakku

One of the familiar festivals celebrated by thanjavur's people is muthupallakku festival. muthupallakku means that a palanquin oranated by jasmine (malligai) which resembles muthu by nature of colour. This festival celebrated in all temples around the palace. Pallakku from all the temples are circumbulated the palace and return to their origin. It is common that lot of devotees gathered there living in and around thanjavur. Vellai vinayagar so called as vellai pillayar pallakku is famous of all.
