i CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IVE NEVER HEARD ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS REGARDING GILBERT OR THIS SONG. IM 47 AND WAS A YOUNGSTER WHEN THE SONG WAS IN THE CHARTS - BUT EVEN THEN, IT WAS OBVIOUS TO ME - (AND,I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT,TO ANYONE WHO HEARD IT)- THAT THE SONG WAS ALL ABOUT BABYSITTING A LITTLE GIRL. IT WAS A FEW YEARS LATER THAT I DISCOVERED THE STORY OF CLAIRE BEING HIS MANAGERS DAUGHTER,ETC. ANYONE WHO COULD EQUATE THIS SONG TO PAEDOPHILIA MUST BE IN URGENT NEED OF A BRAIN TRANSPLANT.

I loved this video. I had never heard the story about how Clair came to be written. I have loved the song since the first time I heard it. I never thought there was anything negative about the song. It was beautiful. I am 59 years old now and I hate the way society has changed. Every action and comment is analyzed for some hidden meaning. Thank you for this video response. I truly hope it helps someone. It's so sad when someone takes something beautiful and tries to trash it.

Plus his home had like what? 20 bedrooms in it, yet these boys were sharing his bed with him! Just something to ponder. Again; way to go Mohawk. 2 great video's. Clair has grown up to be a beautiful young lady,and very well spoken. Hopefully some of these negative ideas about Gilbert,and this wonderful song will disappear. Clair,you were bless'd to have Gilbert looking after you. this is a great song and i never once had any idea of negativity...on the contrary it's very nice and witty...it's a twist of what you think the song is going to be about...my wife Claire loves this song...it's a great work and I love it....as far as the language being used in these posting formats it's become unreal...you who would talk about decency would dare comment on an artist's work? go ahead...you are base...yeah, look it up.
