A short blast of "Sylvia", starring Carroll Baker, playing Friday, August 8th at The Cinefamily, as part of our Summer "Camp" festival (curated by George Kuchar).
@debralmcbryde Olive Films has bought a number of Paramount's movies, HARLOW is being released on DVD on Sept. 28, they have plans to purchase more, I'm hoping they buy this one also. It's a great film !
Carol Baker was very beautifula dn sexy in her day. She had great roles in The Carpetbaggers, Harlow and Baby Doll. I agree with DA90027, that Sylvia was her best, and ahead of it's time for the subject matter. dc
We do love karate chopping drag queens (particularly those who can carry a tune SINCE SO MANY CAN NOT). hehehe... So looking forward to seeing sultry SYLVIA get smacked around at The Silent Movie Theater this week. HooRAY!
I saw this movie on TV in the mid-70s... and later I found a 1965 Reader's Digest with an article which included "Sylvia" among the current crop of disturbing, smutty movies.
I can't find the movie you mentioned in your posting; "Beautiful Lady". Does anyone have any info on this Carroll Baker movie?

This movie was Carroll Baker's best in my opinion. It was dark and real for the era probably ahead of it's time.

This movie was celebrated first in the great book Bad Movies We Love.
