Jerry Lewis is a dick. I observed him walking through the Old Towne Shopping Mall in Reno. This was 1979 and I was a bubbley 22 year old. Lewis was marveling over an ornate copacino machine through a store window. I was on the other side of the window, looking out. I ran around the window and asked Lewis for his autograph. " NO!" screamed Lewis "and I wish the public would just leave us celebrities alone! We have a right to be LEFT ALONE!" Meanwhile, Harrah's escorts are ready to pounce.

Jerry became very angry and replied that people of his fame and status donated their time, not their money. So I guess Jerry donates something like 24 hours a year to the MDA. gets millions worth of publicity for it as a result.

None of the people who appear on the event get paid even one red cent, not even their travel expenses to the telethon. It comes out of their own pockets, and they give of their time and talent.... and probably cut a check for MDA at the same time. You are DEAD WRONG!
