I was 5 at the time. Here's one for debate: was the snow of Jan 1982 worse than that of Nov/Dec
2010?

Remember this , I was 11, we lived out in Enfield, when there was no motorways !!!.... isolation is one word for it, there was a 8ft snow drift out on the road at our house , and the snow drifted as deep as the gutters on parts of our house!!!

our family has footage my grandad shot outside the house in ballyroan, rathfarnham. because they were right at the foot of the mountains they got HUGE amounts of the stuff. we have a shot of my uncle standing on the waist high front wall of the garden and the snow has reached the top of it. looked amazing
i was 12 at the time in rowlagh clondalkin. my ma has just brought my brother home from hospital...we had no gloves, hats or scarves, put socks on hands, me ma would put the grill (cooker)on, so we wouldn't get frost bite......

For those northeast Americans who measure their snowstorms in feet rather than inches, we Irish normally think 6 inches of snow is pretty bad for us. This event was certainly more than that- probably a foot of level snow fell, drifts were several feet high and as much as 20 feet up in the mountains around Dublin. We have not seen a snow event like that since.Great footage, nearly 30 years old wow, I feel old now!
