@temkki The amputation saved his life. Your partly correct in saying there was bad decision. The bad decision was durring his first visit where the hospital did not pay enough attention to fixing the circulation in his leg.
The leg was dead by the time they amputated and if they didnt, he would have died.

i wonder if his skis has a safty break away lock would have still broken his leg

hopefully the massive amount of money from the law-suit will deaden the pain just a little tiny bit. I'm glad for him about the money, and sad for him about the 2 minute run down a ski-slope and he's gotta have a leg chopped off??!!! sux. 2 minute mistake. but bright side is he could have been paralyzed or killed in that 2-minute span but instead only had a leg hacked off. Good Speed fella, u-da-man.

Actually his amputation was wrong decision and he is taking it to court.
Norwegian patience insurance (not sure what its called, it's NPE) admitted that doctors made a wrong decision and Lanzinger can sue to get compensation.
Now his career is ruined...

because his injuries where to bad... He suffered from deep tissue damage and therefore the only choice was amputation.
:(

A man whose life was dedicated to skiing, lost his leg. I couldn't live my life without skiing, I feel so sorry for him.
