"Locomotion" is a 1987 single by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue. The original single was not included on her debut album, "Kylie", but was re-recorded in 1988 as "The Loco-Motion" and included in that form on the album. The album topped the charts in the UK, Japan and New Zealand, while peaking at #2 in Australia. The album is certified 7x platinum in the UK.
"Locomotion" was written as "The Loco-Motion" by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and was originally a smash 1962 international pop hit for American singer Little Eva and included on her album "Locomotion". Grand Funk Railroad also recorded a U.S. #1 version of the song in 1974.
Kylie Minogue's 1987 "Locomotion" version was released on PWL/Mushroom Records and was a #1 hit only in Australia, however, the re-recorded 1988 "The Loco-Motion" version, released on A&M and Geffen Records, was a worldwide hit, reaching #1 in several countries.
