I just drew right on the tv screen with a crayon. I wasn't even aware there was a kit. Fun Times.

In the late sixties, my friends and I would use soft plasticene modeling clay to create obscene substitutes for the scary faces and flowers that were called for when my folks were away. UNBELIEVABLY HILARIOUS MEMORIES.

I loved Winky Dink when I was a kid! Watched that and Sheriff John and Hobo Kelly! I loved those old shows!

I live in SW Connecticut and watched it with this version..sigh...

I remember doing the drawing on my mom's tv and when I was at the hospital after a tonsilectomy I had to watch my "Winkie Dink" An incredible show and so indicative of how wonderful those times were in the mid 60's for children. Thank you for the upload.

...I was born in 1960 , I remember this late 60s version ( I saw it in a 5-minute?? version and I don't think it had the - " Interactive , hah !!!!!!!!! - " draw upon the screen " component . I lived in the NYC suburbs and got those stations .

I watched this show in LA. I believe it was a part of Sheriff John's show which was KTTV channnel 11 around 1967.

Anybody else try and make their own kit?? We just got some Saran wrap and crayons and went to town...

There were 2 iterations of Winky Dink: the original in the 1950s, and its revival in the late 1960s.
The original had Jack Barry as host, with Betty Boop voicer Mae Questel as "Winky".
Later, an all-cartoon series (sans any live-action host) was shown on various kiddie programs (in L.A. it was on KCOP - on some kids' show I can't remember).
I agree with Wikipedia, although I don't always trust them, Winky Dink was very early in the 1950s. By the time the late 1960s came, we'd had a revolution regarding Vietnam, Kennedy had been killed and all of us who remember it were then either pre-teeners or teens -- not kids - and we were little kids when we watched this! Wow, a very simple, but engaging show for kids.

@MsChicagoG In that case, blame IMDb. In that page appears that the animated version you see in this video was produced in 1969 by Fred Calvert. And I insist: the early 1950s original "Winky Dink" was a LIVE ACTION show, and the title character had a design very different to this animated intro.

Wikipedia says this was on from 1953-57, not in the 60s.

@JackieWhoSings The ORIGINAL live-action "Winky Dink and You!" show was released in those years you have mentioned. This is an animated series based on that show, and released in the late '60s.
