Fishtail Air Helocopter crashed in near Mt Everest

KATHMANDU: A mountain helicopter owned by Fishtail Air, crashed in Lobuche of Solukhumbu district on Tuesday afternoon.

Air Traffic Controller Mahendra Kumar Rai at the Lukla Airport said that the three people on board including the pilot were safe.

The helicopter which was rescuing a tourist who had fallen sick had lost communication with the tower some minutes after taking off the airport.

Locals had later confirmed the crash of 9AIK helicopter said Rai while ruling out the earlier news report that claimed that the chopper had caught fire.


The cause of the crash still remained unknown. Two helicopters--one each of Air Dynasty helicopter and Fishtail Air--are on their way to rescue the crash victims.
