  • what's the purpose of submerging the parts in water while sanding them?

  • less dust/dirt.

...not that important with plastic parts.

  • I always wanted to get into making models

Is it just the plastic that comes in the box?If so,what do I need so I can begin making models? Thanks.

  • for the bandai gundam kits, you need nothing else than the box (and a little cutter/sturdy scissor). of course if you want to paint it etc, you will need a lot more stuff and tools

  • Are there any HG Gundam tutorial vids?

  • not that i know of

  • @Tagud I think she's using it to avoid dry Mr. Surfacer dust contaminating the air. The primer is sanded off so that glue can be applied. I've been using this on just plastic since seeing this, since I find the plastic dust pretty annoying.

  • @sleepylafiel Umm, no. It is just as important on plastic parts. Wet sanding keeps your paper from lumping up, in return your paper last longer and your sanding process will go by quicker. It also makes the paper softer and less likely for the edges to dig in to the edges. The number one reason to wet sand is to achieve the flattest and smoothest look. The difference can be most noticed on large pieces.

  • @animateclay ahhhhhh thank you for passing on your wisdom >.< so much work! just want to get rid of the orange peel effect on my over flag when i didnt prime it sand it wash it paint it but i put top coat straight away foolishly. lesson learnt. yeah also get that overtly thined paint that doesnt stick or doesnt layer the parts nicely as they should. Alas, don't have an airbrush/compressor combo yet, only tamiya/mr hobby spray cans that dont last. acrylic pots for hand painting as well.

  • @jocinondemhaterzmen That's what I figured from this and other videos showing the same method.

  • @jocinondemhaterzmen Hey Jocin, yes it is good to wash your parts first so there are no oils. After your primer is dry you should have no problems applying paint, it will stick nicely. I wish I could tell you a good ratio for paint and thinner but I haven't air brushed in years. But as a rule you want it thin enough so it flows nicely through your air brush, but not so much it comes out clear. Cover the tip of your brush with your finger and let the air make bubbles in your mixing cup to mix.

  • MG Qubeley in this vid (Haman Kan vr): ah so good to have a nice warm bath, also, to have a full on treatment is the works XD

  • @Starhawk73 well here in Aus there are a lot of female builders. there are even a few who own small niche hobby stores.

  • @TheTraveler12 me too, wanna go to super modellers in akiba place in Tokyo

  • @htirah100 got Ple-Two's Red Qu MkII. pretty awsum...although its not on display ATM...will do when i watch ZZ hehe

  • @animateclay aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...(eureka moment at realising what washing the plas in soap suds and water does) So much work involved with gunpla or modelling though...wonder why i havent built anything in the past 2 months (xcept for tommorow hehehe) One question: once you put the primer on, how long do you leave it on personally until you are ready to put the first base coat? Also, pls put the ratio of paint:thinner mix you do!
