PART II: Altec is back with a boom and it's called the MIX iMT800. It'll play jamz from your iPod or iPhone...and tell you the name of that tune and who's singing it. Sporting the retro look from the 70s and 80s, Altec when classic with a AM/FM radio and threw in a slick remote. Down to the orange LCD display, the MIX screams "take notice!" and once you have, your ears will thank you for doing so.

  • I would like to know if im playing pandora on my iphone while connected. Can i skip tracks with the remote. Please answer. Great review!

  • @MrBigjack71 as I did not test with the application, it's difficult to say if it will. However, if Pandora is using the same API for track skipping as the iPod, which I would think it is, I would answer yes.

  • how would u compare this to the jvc kaboom

  • @tcboo94 we haven't reviewed the JVC unit so it would be difficult to say.

  • I like the music you use in the review '80 rock, U2 and Tears for Fears!

  • Thank you @19tuureluur86. Glad you like it. Great stuff came out of the 80s.

  • @svenllr I have been extremely satisfied with this device. From time to time some communication errors might occur with the iPod dock (especially in very cold weather), but that's no big deal. Sounds good, looks nice, easy to carry, rugged structure and excellent remote. The power button could have been better embedded deeper though.

  • Does anyone know how the sound quality of this iMT800 compares to the Monster Beatbox? Ive heard the Beatbox in person and I do love it, but I haven't heard this Altec Lansing unit.

  • @760UNDERGROUND This is hands down best dock for any music player in this price range. I have used AL product sin past and they dont compromise with sound quality. This is not just a simple dock, take it anywhere like parties and camping. Good stuff
