Refining gold.
Scrap jewelry gold is first dissolved in Aqua Regia. The liquid is filtered removing the silver. Video shows: Gold precipitate from the acid solution using sodium nitrite. Laser pionting out the progress. Dried pure gold in a crucible.

  • did u really use sodium nitrate to precipitate the gold ? if so could i use potassium nitrate instead ?

  • @dionysus2008 Haven't tried Na or K NO3, but the nitrite is different (it has one less oxygen on the nitrate constituent)

  • The precipitate looks oddly like cocoa powder. What an expensive mistake that would be!

  • @tanuku79 I don't boil down, There are other methods. Remember this is video is getting the gold OUT of the aqua-regia... most UTube videos show gold going IN the aqua-regia.
