In this video I show you how to open the reed gap so the notes will require less air to make sound. It really makes a big difference and allows you to play longer on a single breathe.

If you open the gap too much, you can always push the reed back down into the slot.

Practice on old harps as you could damage the reed if you put too much strain on it.

  • Thanks a lot ! I busking for many years; and I spend a lot of money to buy, every month an harp. Lee Oskar, or Honner bues harp, or special 20. Now cost 35 euros each. After, i find the replacement reed, from Lee Oskar, for 20 euros, but still expensive. Do more tutorial.

  • @RenzoColameo I like the Suzuki Manji it has a nice rich full tone with comparable sound to the Hohner Marine band because of the wood fibers in the comb. They were in the $40 range a year ago and now are in the $60 range. I guess alot of people have been buying them. Thanks for the comment, and I sub'd back!

  • Thats really good, thanks for the tip. My week old Hohner "big river" needs a bit tweaking at the top end i think and the bottom "C" as well.

  • Nice video chap. Ive actually tried this, but what I experienced is that the paper tares and sticks right near the rivet, dulling the note. I have some automotive type "feeler gauges" which are far more useful for this task. Carlos Stein XX.
