@telefrk49 Or like the girl you get a hotel with when you don't want to go home!

Love it! I bought the same exact guitar new back in 06' at Guitar Center! I did replace the stock p90's with Lollar p90's and it sounds even better (not that the originals were terrible). There's less hum than before but it still has just the right amount of it. Killer pinch harmonics and responsive to picking style.

@lockpicker2k Your SG will never sound like a Fender, and the SG Standard is the muddiest, most overpriced electric Gibson sells.

@lockpicker2k I agree with Ven9512. I'm a Fender guy ( 3 Strats, 4 Tele's, 1 Jazzmaster), but I also own lots of other guitars as well. This SG Classic one of them (I also have a few LP Jr's w/P-90's). This guitar in no way, shape, or form sounds like a Fender. P-90's have a tone to them that is entirely original and exclusive to the P-90. The only other thing that sounds like a P-90 is a P-90. I enjoy the occasional humbucking guitar as well (335/339's), but P-90's are unique : )

@italiansrock101 Epiphones dont fail the sound test the are just far cheaper made. But i agree myself both owning an epip and gibson, even the feel the gibson is far far superior to the epi

Ven9512 usa consumer Report called the Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and the Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg reissues some of the very best crafted guitars in the world at any price. They also stated they are the most under priced.
-
Also my chemical romance and kings of leon play certain models of the Epiphone sg's and Wilshires. I sugest you do your home work befor you post it will stop you from looking stupid.

Italiansrock and to say all Epiphones are entry level guitars go's to show that you know NOTHING About Epiphones. Tell Slash/Zakk Wylde/Joe Bonamassa/Alex lifeson just to name a few professional guitarist that also play Epiphone les pauls.
Todays Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and the Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Reissue and a few others are so under priced for the very best quality they produce for the past 3 to 4 years its down rite pathetic. EPI MAN 4 LIFE!

@EPI6fingers I like the Epi G-400 as well as the others you mentioned. However, as good as Epiphone can be for the money my main issue with them is they're inconsistant in quailty. I have an Epiphone les paul standard and it's not a great guitar cause of issues with the fretboard and frets themselves. You have to play a lot of Epi's to really find a great one which they have. Most Gibsons have a much better quality control and overall tone woods which is what you pay extra for.

@EPI6fingers You're saying you'd rather own an Epiphone than a Gibson? You do know that Epiphone is the entry level guitars that Gibson makes, right? They're not a separate company. Epiphones, if I'm correct, are Gibson guitars that failed a Gibson sound test. Gibson is basically just the better version of Epiphone. It's like preferring Squier guitars to Fender guitars. It's stupid.

@italiansrock101 Epiphone indeed has lower priced versions of Gibson guitars. However, to call them all entry level is naive and flat out wrong. Sure they have entry level guitars in there range. However, the elistist and masterbuilt lines are nothing short of stellar and hold there own with any Gibson twice the price. If you can afford Gibson price then by all means. I have one as well that rocks. But if your on a budget get an Epiphone and mod it yourself and you'll have a great guitar.

I prefer the sound of my SG Standard. If I ever want my SG to sound like a Fender I'll buy a Fender.

@lockpicker2k Not to be contrary but I have 3 Fender guitars and my SG sounds nothing like a Fender. P-90's are a way hotter single coil. They're inbetween a single coil & a humbucker. They are the original pickup that was installed in a 56 Les Paul. They have a total Gibson sound. Just ask Pete Townsand, Angus Young and countless other Gibson players who have use P-90's in the past.
