Genre Confusion

But yeah those drawn out arguments that I see on so many videos about genre are just... I dont know how people can get so heated about something that ultimately will always remain pretty ambiguous.

I would say the electronic genre (maybe I shouldn't use this word) is probably the most... organized? Maybe its just because it's what I'm most immersed in, but thats what I feel. It's a relatively simple categorization that is heavily based on the underlying beat. Although you could dance to both house and techno, house is decidedly more base-heavy. I think the classification from lightest beat to heaviest would go:

ambience>trance>techno>house>d­ubstep>gabber
