Gov. Bev Perdue is calling on the General Assembly to temporarily restore a fraction of a penny to the state sales tax to reverse deep and unnecessary cuts to education.
What a shame the General Assembly continues to cut education budget. Why would they continue to cut off the hands off of the future generation that will be taking care of them in their old age? Knowledge is power.
BRAVO GOVERNOR PERDUE! As a 10 year volunteer educational advocate on the local, district, state and national level I have made many visits to communities, schools and families. We are losing our children every day to gangs and drop outs. I pray the General Assembly pay heed to your wisdom. You've definitely done your homework not only in research but in person visiting schools all over this state. ALL CHILDREN deserve equal opportunity! You make me proud to be an advocate. ROCK ON!
She is a horrible person. Why does her chef get paid $75,000/year if she's so concerned about funding "education"? Didn't she and the crook before her promise the lottery would fix everything?
We the people are tired of hearing how if we only give a "little more" everything will be golden. Times are hard and we all make sacrifices. I cut my grocery budget to pay the electric bill. I don't eat out so my kids get lunch money. Imagine if I ran to my employer and told them they had to give me just a little more each week. It is time for Raleigh and Washington to learn from We the People. We send you to office to do a job. Do your job or step aside. Stop the guilt tripping.
A tax is never temporary to the democracks! Instead of raising taxes why don't we cut costs? Its strange how a private school or a charter school has better results with less cost per child. Maybe we can take a look at their techniques.
"O" really Bev ??? ...when you want people to pay always say it is about Children ....get the illegals and Muslims off the tax payers payroll ....Stop your travel Bev and NO parties at the Governor's Mansion .....then why did you spend the lottery money Bev ??? it was for the kids !...just tell me what you really want that money for ?
One has to wonder about the education of people who only know how to express their opinions through personal attacks and name-calling. Regardless of your opinion on this (or any other) issue it would be more productive, to say nothing of more polite, to address the issues with evidence and data rather than ad hominem attacks. I'm an independent, a public education skeptic, I own a private e-Learning biz, but honestly, the tenor of this "discussion" is enough to drive me left!
The Republicans allowed the tempory tax to expire. You want a new "tempory" tax that will never go away. You are lying to us right now, as all politicians do. This tax, under you and the Democrats, will always be renewed.
another democrat raising taxes and begging us to "do it for the children". Madame Governor, we're all tired of that worn out guilt trip. We know its a ploy for you to use to expand your agenda. If you were really worried about education you would have cut some of your special interest projects and spent the money on education. You didn't.
