if you listen to clapton playing the same song either on cd or live tracks he never plays it the same way twice it is always very slightly different

You use a BOSS BR 600, that's an awesome device! ;)

Ya know if you make chicken soup there should be a chicken in it. not hot dogs or sausage. You have a gift and I'm sorry you did'nt show it. Maybe you should listen to what joe t does when he plays crossroads. so sorry if I was a little coarse and please forgive the spelling.

@gund2281 i think that way sounds better (you a way lol)

@guitarmcp very good dude, you keep keeping your cool like that and explaining it to people then you will go far. and clapton has played it that way check out some of his early stuff he, like all people, are just tyrying to play what you hear in your head. sometimes i kill myself on a song being like, "should i use and open a or fith fret?" its a road as far as you wanna go.

This would be a good variation on a theme to Clapton's way of playing, as in a jam. As has been said before, it was actually done in the 2nd fret A postion, which gave it a more dark feeling in that the words were "dark" as in the spirit of a true blues song.
I dont wanna seem like an ass here, but why do such talented people make thing SOO much harder than they need to be? Clapton never plays it that way, he uses the A waaaay down on the second fret. Not saying that you dont do this well or that it doesnt work this way, since obviously it does. But when you're teaching you need to take the path of least resistance for the student. The sound doesn't change or suffer but the fingering is easier. Why make it harder?

Good comment dude. My reply is that for me this seems to be easier and sound better. I never researched how Clapton played it because it doesn't really matter. My focus is just to give new players something to think about. I am disappointed that my way is considered the most difficult way of playing. I don't want to discourage anyone. The only rule is.... Make it sound cool!
Again, I appreciate your comment and your approach to making your point. So many listeners just want to flame.

Sorry if I offended you. Couldn't tell for sure if you were being sarcastic. I really didn't mean to slam you or anything. I respect your talent and your chosen form of expression, as I like to call it. You play this very well and of course it works. I am a highly trained musician myself (albeit not much on guitar) so I know that sometimes it doesn't seem to us like what we are doing is more or less difficult. I was just looking at it as a "guitar novice" myself.

Missed this... Floyd Rose DST2. Needed a cheap guitar in Iraq so I bought the stupid deal of the day on Musicians Friend and it has turned into my main guitar. I'm very happy with it. If you ever get a speed loader system buy your strings in bulk.
