I love reeses Pieces and ET! Its my all time favortie movie. I just read an et storybook and the author obviously knows nothing of et because she wrote about M&Ms instead.. silly ppl.

Reese's Pieces were a joke before this movie came out. No one ate them...at least no kids that I knew ate them.

I ever remember watching ET when it came out and thinking, "How clueless is this movie? No one eats those nasty candies. If this was realistic, he'd be using M&Ms."

Turns out M&Ms were actually the first choice, but Mars turned it down. Hershey stepped up, got their product in the movie, and Resse's Pieces suddenly became popular practically overnight.

Somebody got promoted!

If you are interested in a real nice product placement exemple, search for sea-doo fanta and 1970 in Youtube. That Fanta ad was shown in 25 metropolitan markets from Boston to San Diego for the summer of 1970. I was product manager for Sea-Doo (by Bombardier)and it cost us nothing for that product placement. We provided Coca-Cola Company with the Sea-Doos in Key Biscayne, Florida for the week it took to produce the commercial. Imagine the value of this campaign for us at Bombardier.
