The Year for Priests promulgated by Benedict XVI is linked to the diligent work undertaken by the Congregation for Catholic Education. We had already begun a few years ago to reflect on formation. The best seminary You asked me: What is the best seminary? The best seminary is one that welcomes the seminarians, the young [candidates], just the way they are nowadays when they come to the seminary, and one that provides education just as the Church desires. The formation of the new generations is a great hope for priestly vocations throughout the whole world. The profile of young people is often the same: They are generous, they love Christ and they want to follow Him. But they do not live the Christian culture. They still need to discover the Christian culture and faith. To acquire this basic formation, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the figure of St. Jean Marie Vianney are presented as valuable examples for this day and age.The Cure of Ars lived just after the French Revolution. The Holy Father mentioned this recently. In some way, the Church needed to be rebuilt since the grounds had been completely destroyed.Hard work, the priests renewal of their inner life, mass and confession are all indispensable tasks. For this reason, the Congregation for Catholic Education has decided to publish a special letter during the Year for Priests. It is a brief text that gives strength to everyone: to the teachers, because they have to a lot to adapt and we want to encourage them; and also for those who have just arrived, in order to tell them, Listen, you are lucky to have been chosen as priests; it is a honor and you should be proud. In a word: it is a blessing to be a priest, it is a blessing to be formed in order to become a priest.
