@ytgv3fc7 No. The problem of bimetallism was that the government had a fixed ratio between gold and silver but the market ratio was changing (due to new mines or whatever). When the market ratio was big enough with the government ratio either gold or silver dissapeared from the economy because of Gresham law. It happened twice during the USA history. This created big problems in the economy as it had to adjust itself.
Bimetallism, a gold and silver standard, was a big problem.
The book, "Web of Debt" by Ellen Brown is also good at explaining how the Wizard of Oz story was describing the struggles between bankers and people for a fair monetary system in the late 1800's/early 1900's in America. I highly recommend it - the book goes into our current economic problems too.
also as soon as the lion scene in the movie starts. Play Pink Floyds Dark side of the moon backwards and there is a secret message. muuuhhaahhha

@hugolp that's like saying having both farms and gardens were big problems in an economy so we better have factory farms and make gardens illegal.
Nonsense.

@hugolp - yeah, that happened in 1913

Bimetalism was a problem. The fixed ratio between gold and silver produced big problems in the economy.
The bankers may have had interest but it was not a banker takeover.
