Noting a bit of chemistry between his girl Angie Dickinson and his underling/driver John Cassavetes, Ronald Reagan decides trickledown slapnomics are the answer. Note that while she's smacked across the left cheek, Ms. Dickinson clutches her right cheek. Ohhhh Angie.

  • Heavens to the Gipper! THANKS for posting this powerful scene. The only time I saw Ronnie in a nogoodnik role. And it was his last film performance! Fascinating! I've read this movie was originally made for TV but was released to theaters because the Universal execs decided it was too violent for network broadcast. I've watched it on home video & it is pretty violent. You've MADE my day & my week! CHEERS! :-)

  • @JubalCalif I'm happy to have made your day, nay, week! And yeah, I know the story behind it. Don Siegel doing made for TV? Not happening.

  • Next time somebody smacks me on the left cheek, I'm going to hold my right one.

  • "well I can change that in a gat damned hurry" he said with a curious arched eyebrow.

  • Slap looked fake but the punch was ridiculous lol

  • Holy shit, that looked like it hurt.

  • @philldafunk I've been laughing at that detail since 1968! Watched it in the middle of the night on a 13" B&W Zenith when I was an insomniac 9-year-old. Next day my dad asked me about it... "Man, it was a rough day for Angie Dickinson," was what I told him.

  • @JubalCalif *It was his one and only nogoodnik role; he later said he was really sorry he'd done it. *The 'Homicide is against my principles' line was inserted at Ronnie's insistance, he was a 'master criminal' etc etc but not a killer. *It was aired on TV then in 1968 against his efforts and wishes; political motivations? LOL.

  • YOU TOUCH HIM AGAIN I'LL KICK YOU AGAIN.

  • Bad actor

  • he puched the president!

  • And the Gipper slapped her faster than he slapped PATCO.
