@kalif151byccrew ..Will he ever show some reverence to the other elements?...IDK,IDC.. his perspective limited or not is VERY important...is he silly? is he sometimes wrong? yes but his perspective shows love and compassion, for the art..something people of his age rarely do...so I think he can be a great asset to hip hop is used and not misused

@kalif151byccrew If hip hop cannot be used for this purpose than yes I think he would abandon it, but so would a large percentage of hip hop listeners..to deny the importance of lyrics from a genre derived from a need to tell a oral story of a voiceless people, is to totally dis-empower the microphone (element)..hip hop speaks to soo many people that to think a PHD disallows you from critiquing it. is not fair to the artform..

@kalif151byccrew The work dyson does is not a social experiment..he is very purposeful in the dialog he has of the subject(hip hop)..and if it were an experiment his aim is to find a formula of black expression that will change the way blacks view themselves and shape their actions in self-sustaining, positive ways that will in-turn be positive for all humanity

kalif151byccrew I think his perspective of the holistic vernacular tradition of Blacks of which hip-hop is a part, is thought provoking and needed for real outsiders, whatever beef you have with people not making mention of all of hip-hops elements, shouldn't overshadow the purpose of his connection to it..he is not connected to hip hop because he wants to, but it is necessary to showing his understanding, for his people and their message through time. I think in hip hop there is love for him.

why does Michael Eric Dyson only focus on the lyrical aspect of hip hop. He does realize there is 4 elements to this culture. I don't support this fool. I think he is an outsider a "fan" with a phd doesnt mean he knows anymore about this culture than the bboys dj's and graff writers. it's a social experiment with him
