Was I Ever Saved?

So little about salvation is explained explicitly in the Bible. I want to know what Christians & ex-Christians think or thought on different aspects of it. Is a person once saved, always saved? Is baptism necessary? How do you deal with the idea that so many people are doomed to hell? Most importantly, how do you *know* you're saved?

Angie, I am a former Christian. Don't sweat it. It's all a man made BS story. You will talk in circles with Christians about this. Notice the endless circle jerk of questions they are asking you. "We're you really saved?", "What church did you go to?", "Did your head start spinning around and did you speak in tongues??" etc.

salvation is by faith alone, please. It can't get any clearer than that. Forget about calvinists or arminians or whatever. Just ask yourself a question, what does the Bible say about salvation ??? faith alone period (Whole book of ROmans , Galatians, etc etc). Works amount to nothing, only fruits of the fact that you are saved. You are saved because you solely believe in the Gospel. The good news that Jesus died for our sins, as our substitute on the cross.

Use that testimony He gave you to defeat the accusations of your enemy. Don't allow that nasty devil attack and confuse you anylonger.. Walk in your assurance by what Christ has done through you.. Hope this helps

Hey Angie... A person knows they are saved by the immediate changes and godly desires you have when you become born again.. There will always be times that satan will come to you and tell you that you are not saved.. That is why your testimony is the most powerful thing against satan.. If you have truly gave your heart to Christ, there will be a change in your life that you can never deny. Did I say that the enemy will not try to attack. No.. But you can never deny what Christ has done in you

As to dealing with people you care about who are not saved, trust that God is a just God. Every person has an equal opportunity to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling (Phiil 2:12). Evil, in the eyes of God are people who live for themselves, and not to Him. If one will not submit to Him, they are lost. It is like this: If the speed limit is 55, you don't have to obey it. You can choose to go 99, but you have no right to complain when you get a ticket. Make your choice.

@AngieAntiTheist If you can agree with above, then you see there's a God. The next step = who he is. I studied world religion - concluded the evidence to support the Bible was the strongest. Study apologetics about the scientific evidence, historical accuracy, proof of inspiration, fulfilled prophecies, etc. in the Bible. Eventually where all of this takes you is that there is too much evidence that supports the Bible to believe it is not true. But you have to be intellectually honest w/yourself

2. The problem seems very basic: You have never used apologeitcs to give you faith in the Bible you were taught to believe. If you study the topic, for example, "Does God Exist" and have come to the conclusion, as I have that: 1) Design demands a designer. 2.) Writing demands a writer (DNA code is similar to computer code - and we know intelligent programmers program computers. 3.) Order and organization do not come as a result of an explosion. Explosions = chaos & destruction

The reason you were unsure seems to stem from being unsure of so many other things. Will God appear to you and whisper in your ear "Trust me, you are saved." Not exactly. Here are a few suggestions:

1. You have to be willing to study your many questions out for yourself. A.)Is there a God? B.) If so, who is He/Are They C.) What does this God require of me? D. What are the best arguments to prove these points? This study is called "Apologetics" - lots of books on religious apologetics
