The city of 's-Hertogenbosch closed the historic inner city for motorized traffic. This used to be different. From the 1960s the city looked like one big parking lot. Now we only see pedestrians and cyclists in the historic center that since long has become a shopping area. You can still park your car near this center, but it is very expensive. This encourages people to come by bicycle. If they can not do that, or if they do not want to, there are "transferia" at the edges of the city near the motorways. Huge parking lots where there was space to build them. From such a 'transferium' buses bring people to the center in just minutes and at a fraction of the cost of parking in the center.
Great job! We need more cities like this.

This is a proof that dutchs are the most intelligent people on the earth. You can forget this for Italy. Cycling = death

This is quite impressive for all the cities you show on your videos. Can you tell me what brought about the change in thinking? It would really have to involve major cooperation between government, businesses and the people....I guess that's what impresses me the most.

I would love to see more of the this in Chicago, IL. The Netherlands is lucky to be blessed with a more mild climate compared to Chicago. Cars and the attitudes of drivers definitely make the city less friendly. Snowy cold winters, and greedy oil companies don't help much either.

Awesome in France some are saying "no cars = no people shopping and spending money..". Its just a proof of the opposit no cars means more people. With my girlfriends we are travelling through France with our bikes and 9/10 times people doing the samething are Dutch or German so big respect. In France people love too much their cars, it's a pity.
