All of the reasons given for accepting so many (>250k/a) immigrants into Canada--actuarial needs, labour, &c.--are bogus. The REAL reason is the powerfull real estate/developers'lobby, which needs a constant influx of warm bodies to grow. If the 'green' types REALLY care about things like urban sprawl, they'll support a cap on immigration. It's not Canada's responsability to save the developing world from overpopulation.

Back to the issue of "illegal" immigrants, Canadian/US business constantly go into countries such as China, India, Africa, etc. to exploit the people. So why are some people privileged to move around freely from country to country, while others who come from poorer countries restricted?

When African-Americans smuggled "slaves" to Canada to give them freedom, they were considered "illegal" immigrants. So the only difference is the time period. END ALL DISCRIMINATION!!

First of all I would like to state unless you fit into the "white patriarchal heterosexual capitalist framework" you will be viewed as an immigrant even if you have status. Secondly, Canada is build upon and depends on immigrants, roughly 250,000 per year to keep the economy up.

OMG, the same stupid rhetoric the illegals say here. "We are a country of immigrants." No, Canada and the U.S. are not countries of immigrants. We are sovereign countries with U.S. citizens and Canadian citizens. Once you are naturalize and pledge allegiance to you new home, you are no longer an immigrant.
