Why does seeing this end make me sad when considering how the whole 'council finally sees their own wrong doing' scene just got COMPLETELY ignored in the 2nd game? It just feels like they backed out because they knew not how to fix it without creating an even bigger plot hole.

I really can't decide which final cut scene is cooler. Mass Effect has great music and a bad-ass Shepard emerging from rubble when they think (s)he's dead. Mass Effect 2 is just awesome-filled action sequence, also with good music. Casey Hudson is a genius and my hero.
