High above the town of Kyparissia is a statue, overlooking all within sight, including the castle ruins which feature in this video. The statue is of a woman holding a dead child. It was here that Greek mothers took their stand against Turkish oppression and abduction of their children, preferring instead to commit suicide with them rather than surrender their off-spring to the Ottoman Empire, never to be seen again.
The theme of this video is peril. The music by Rene Aubry is entitled, "Peril", fitting well with the sacrifice of the mothers long ago, the dangers which the Castle represent, and the perilous nature of the descent by trike from the heights of the lookout overlooking Kyparissia.
Twice on the run down I was surprised by cars coming in the opposite direction. At one point I was caught on the wrong side of a blind corner and only a luckily placed side street acted as a safety point to avoid a collision.
The first part of the descent needed the utmost caution. Like the castle which was erected for protection, danger was ever present from below.
Most of all though, Kyparissia, with its castle and history, tells a story of danger and sacrifice.
But you are Greek aren't you? I'll translate the comment I posted anyway.. I wrote that I thank you very much for uploading that video.. and that I've never been to Kyparissia but I want to visit someday.. I love very much that place even if I've never been there.. I'm kind of emotional connected to Kyparissia and thank's again for the video!

Thanks for the translation. My father is Greek, but unfortunately I never had the opportunity of learning Greek properly as a child. I was brought up in Australia. I'm afraid picking up the language here in Greece has not proved easy for me.
Kyparissia is beautiful. You obviously know someone special to you from or now living at Kyparissia. If you are ever there during the warmer months, pay a visit to the camping grounds at the beach. The married couple who run it are marvelous people.

I wish I could translate that. Unless the Greek is posted in the Greek alphabet I can't use programs like Babelfish to help me understand. I hope it was positive.
