Researchers at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science have developed a novel, continuously running camera that captures images roughly a thousand times faster than any existing conventional camera. In a paper in the April 30 issue of Nature, post-doctoral scholar Keisuke Goda, graduate student Kevin Tsia and team leader Bahram Jalali, a professor of electrical engineering, describe an entirely new approach to imaging that does not require a traditional CCD (charge-coupled device) or CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) video camera. Building on more than a decade of research on photonic time stretch, a technique for capturing elusive events, the team has demonstrated a camera that captures images at some 6 million frames per second. • That is amazing. (I'm part of the one percent)

  • I liked it because it looks like it would be a cool roller coaster ride.

  • The fastest camera now can capture the actual video of the photons moving, very cool.

  • Guys, don't dislike because you don't know what it is... Just leave if you'd wish not to see it.

  • Explanation of my ADD.... its 3 a.m.... I got online to watch the installation of the upper and lowers of some rifle kits... that lead me to watching rifles being shot... that lead to videos of 10,000 frame per seconds videos of the impact of riffle rounds on half in thick steel sheets... which lead me to this... I will now go to google in an attempt to find answers to what this video means lol... i will not sleep tonight... thanks man for uploading this video!

  • Ah, I understand now!

    .. Rainbowz! <3

  • Ja pierdole ale gówno , nic nie kumam ... Hey people awesome video .

  • well, obviously, seen here, uh, the thing shoots out a white ball, then after getting bigger and flatter, it splits into skittles, then from there, it goes into a loop de loop, then goes in a computer. Thus letting you see the rainbow.

  • i clicked on this wondering how fast that the camera would run, lol... then i was completely confused

  • I already have the fastest camera in my mobile phone... Once u take a picture u can barely see it move... it`s like a still image :P
