The Haunting (1963) Trailer

Trailer for the 1963 film "The Haunting".
Dr. Markway, doing research to prove the existence of ghosts, investigates Hill House, a large, eerie mansion with a lurid history of violent death and insanity. With him are the skeptical young Luke, who stands to inherit the house, the mysterious and clairvoyant Theodora and the insecure Eleanor, whose psychic abilities make her feel somehow attuned to whatever spirits inhabit the old mansion. As time goes by it becomes obvious that they have gotten more than they bargained for as the ghostly presence in the house manifests itself in horrific and deadly ways.

nothing ever really happens in the movie, except a lot of sounds. The book was OK.

This film is full of chills and it makes you shiver when you hear a bump in the night after you see it.It is most definitely a classic, with fantastic performances, stylistic suspense, and great cinematography. Yet, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But the thing I don't understand, is why you are watching trailers on YouTube of movies you don't care for?

@catchersmitt0 thats the whole idea,you don't ever see anything,it's scary just hearing the sounds and waiting in anticipation for something to be seen...once you see it your not scared anymore ..I love these old movies,they wern't full of blood and gore but real story lines.

This is the scariest show I have ever seen. It gave me nightmares for over 20 years after seeing the movie. Of course, I had to buy my own copy for masochistic purposes of watching it again and again. LOL

It sucks nowadays that this generation doesn't know how to watch movies for fun. Now they basically want everything perfect and they always expect to be shown everything especially in horror movies today. Back then you relied on your imagination more than anything and that is what made it fun

i swear there was another "The Haunting" movie from the 1970s or very very early 80s. my mom had the book it was based on. A true story supposedly. all i remembered was the father was rapped on the floor by a succubus who posed as his wife and then family was followed by the demon spirits in the woods when they tried to camp out and get their minds off that shit that was going on in the house.
