Simply because the majority of people like Big Macs does not make it gourmet food. Poor taste is a hallmark of many cultures.
Peter Murphy went on to produce without Bauhaus, and the others left to from Tones on Tails and later Love and Rockets... artistically I'm going to go with Bauhaus on the whole, though I'll give a showmanship award to KISS :)
The fact you think I, we, or Bauhaus suck will lead me to many sleepless night I can tell you. My pillow is already wet with tears.

Peter John Murphy was the vocalist of the group Bauhaus. Thin, with prominent cheekbones, a rich voice, and a penchant for gloomy poetics, Murphy is often called the "Godfather of Goth. This song is found on -Bauhaus Singles: 1979-1983, Volume 1.

Wellingborough is home to singer Peter Murphy of Bauhaus who lived a large portion of his early life there (Wiki)... Yay that's where I've lived for a long time now, his Dad lives near me and used to be a window cleaner on our estate before he retired.

Anyway-- pardon my bitterness as I respond to your post. I'm just an old lady who happens to know-- not everything, I'm not obsessed or anything!-- but has been around a long time and saw what happened with these early goth groups. In Peter's case, I'm pretty sure it was after "Who killed Mr. Moonlight" that he contracted *double* pneumonia, which, as you can imagine drastically changed his lifestyle. So that and musical differences, as far as I know, are what caused them to split.

Comparing them to KISS is indeed like, comparing, uh, Paris Hilton to Snooky. (I don't mean that in a class-way or a beauty-way-- just that Peter et all have put a lot more thought into their music and perfomances than just wearing some black & white makeup and calling on the young to be their "army". (As a matter of fact, they weren't even the 1st to do that. I was listening to Adam Ant before KISS and he called for an 'insect nation'-- more or less an 'Ant Army' of his loyal fans).

Ok, I admit I am not going to read more than the 1st few comments here. Suffice to say, imagine my surprise when I discovered this enthusiastically youthful, yet uniformed banter.
One of you could have brought up the analogy a bit (the name of the band, meaning something, from history....certainly...?) ?If you've ever seen Peter hanging upside down on stage for a 1/2hour, you might reconsider calling it mere "showmanship"-- he's more akin to a Houdini.

I like how, whenever vampires are mentioned, everybody (even the people bashing it) has to bring up Twilight. Don't you guys realize, you're giving Stephenie so much free publicity? You're only proving her success, regardless of how crappy that crap is. (Not a Twilight fan, by the way.)
And I'm glad I watched this movie for one reason: Bauhaus. C:
