  • @BlindBoar I think he is playing with nylon strings on the majority of the harp and wires in the bass register. That is the most common way of stringing harps, aside from using gut instead of nylon. A wire-strung harp is played with the nails and tends to have a music box or grandfather-clock type of chiming quality. Gut strung is generally a mellow and warm sound. Nylon has a very bright tone. Usually wire strings are used in the bass register on modern harps, probably because of resonance.

  • @decsonthedecks Larry Fisher with flurocarbon strings?

  • nylon on a larry eager harp

  • @BlindBoar I think he is using wire strings. Gut strings would have a real different effect. I think gut strings ring more and have a more brittle sound, Also they are more traditional. By the style of his playing I don't think he is playing a gut string harp. Im not positive though.

  • Is he playing a wire-strung harp? It kind of sounds like one, but it doesn't look like he is playing with his nails (in fact, he doesn't seem to have any nails) which is the norm for the wire-strung harp. Can anyone confirm whether these are nylon/gut strings or wire strings? Thanks!
