I find it quite delectible that the beans and barley cook a liitle first and then add the potatoes on the top-they frequently come out beautifully browned on the top. For kishke, take 2 cups flour,1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/8 tsp paprika, pinch of garlic salt and mix. Add 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup grated minced onion. Mix well and add water until one has a dough mixture. Divide into quarters and add inside the cholent to cook with the rest of your ingredients
Thank you so much for posting this recipe. My wife was the chulent maker in our house for years. She makes a very good chulent but I wanted to try this one out. I gave her last weekend off and I made it. The aroma that filled our home shabbos morning was awesome. I couldn't wait to get home from shul to dig in. The title says it all. This is the best chulent recipe. It's become our family's favorite. Even my wife was amazed. I couldn't find the A&H kishka so I used meal mart. Came out amazing!!!
