President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo relinquished her position as the partys national chairperson and turned it over to former Defense Secretary Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro in the LAKAS KAMPI CMD National Convention held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

With more than 3,000 in attendance, the LAKAS KAMPI CMD formally proclaimed Gilbert Teodoro and Eduardo "Edu" Manzano as the partys official candidate for the 2010 national elections.

In her speech, the President stressed that the party had undergone many legal challenges but she believes in the power of the young generation. She also said that her administration is delivering investments which the people deserve in three critical areas: the economy, environment and education. These are the key issues which she believes are necessary in lifting our nation.




On the fight against poverty, the party has initiated political and economic reforms in the quest to bring the nation in the verge of the first world within a generation.

The President also ratified the national council resolutions which bear the partys by-laws, the composition of officials of the party and the partys standard bearer Gibo Teodoro and Edu Manzano.
